    John Agboola Odeyemi’s educational journey was equally challenging but exemplified perseverance. His elementary education was disrupted, with him attending various schools, including Okemesi Primary School in Ife, St. Leo’s College in Abeokuta, and St. Paul’s Anglican School in Ayegbaju, Ile-Ife. His higher education took him to the United Kingdom, where he pursued studies at the College of Commerce and Technology in Wednesbury, Staffordshire, from 1966 to 1967. There, he focused on commerce and technology, equipping himself with vital technical and managerial skills.

    Odeyemi became a qualified accountant with prestigious certifications. In 1966, he earned his qualification from the Chartered Institute of Cost and Management Accountants (CIMA) in the UK, followed by becoming a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants (ACCA) in 1967. In 1972, he was inducted as a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), solidifying his status as a top-tier financial expert in Nigeria.

    Odeyemi’s career began in the UK, where he worked as an Audit Senior at Cooper & Lybrand, Birmingham, between 1967 and 1969. Upon his return to Nigeria, he joined JKN Limited as an Accountant and Admin Manager. Through hard work and commitment, he rose to become the Vice-Chairman and Chief Executive of JKN Limited, a leading engineering firm specializing in electrical and mechanical installations, telecommunications, and infrastructural development.

That same year, he received a Merit Award from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) for his exceptional contributions to the accounting profession.

    In 2007, Osun State awarded him the State Distinguished Merit Award for Philanthropy and Community Development, and he was honored with a Doctor of Science in Business Administration (Honoris Causa) from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. His community also recognized his contributions with the Distinguished Merit Award from the Ile-Ife Community in 2008.

    Odeyemi’s contributions to Nigeria’s infrastructural development earned him a Special Award from the Federation of Construction Industry in 2009.
